Recently, I have investigated some excellent small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises, and conducted in-depth communication and exchange with their chairman and senior management on enterprise transformation and upgrading, industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing, from which I can feel the thoughts of China's small and medium-sized manufacturing industry at the time of change in this era.

The typical manufacturing industry with simple products, labor-intensive processing, strict medical and health standards, and no high technical content in products.
At the beginning of the 1980s, there was a rapid growth and good profit. However, due to intensified market competition and rising personnel costs, market space and market position have declined. Therefore, we started to build factories in the mainland ten years ago in order to reduce the cost pressure.
The chairman of the board of directors of the enterprise has a strong learning ability and innovative spirit. When the enterprise is still developing smoothly, he resolutely developed an extended new product despite the opposition of the public. This new product series not only has the uniqueness of the product, but also has a broader market space. Now the product has set up an independent company and achieved great success.
We believe that the old products still have a certain market space and potential, and agree that if we improve the automation, informatization and intelligence of the enterprise, there is still a lot of room for development.
Enterprises have done their best in the aspects of assembly line and automation. Due to the narrow industry, not every point has the appropriate automation equipment to match, so now many jobs still need manual operation.
The ERP system has been used in the enterprise financial management and purchase, sale and inventory has been able to better carry out information management. The factory level and the field level of the enterprise have not implemented the relevant information management.
Some products abroad are still designated to be manufactured manually. If the method is changed, it needs to be reviewed and confirmed by the customer at the factory.
Enterprises have fully felt the pressure of rising labor costs, market competition, rapid and complicated market demand, brand's failure to advance or retreat, and the pressure of rapid changes in the external environment, and they are willing to invest to change.
