China has become the world's largest consumer market for industrial robots since 2013, and it has remained so far. However, due to the long-term lag in the core technology, there are still many shortcomings in China's industrial robot industry, including the key parts are controlled by others, the brand strength is relatively weak, and the lack of industry professionals and so on.
According to the prediction of relevant experts, the global market scale of industrial robots will increase to 111 billion US dollars or more by 2020.
Compared with the robot brands in Germany, Japan and other countries, China's domestic robots have greater advantages in system integration and application end, but the differences between China's domestic robots and international giants in terms of robot body and core parts are still large, and there is still a significant gap between China's domestic robots and the "five giants" in terms of market share.
As a big manufacturing country, China has maintained the largest robot market in the world for three consecutive years. However, the robot density in China's market still lags far behind that in developed countries. In China's manufacturing industry, there are only 30 robots per 10000 workers, compared with 323 in Japan, 282 in Germany and 152 in the United States.
Therefore, automation transformation can be said to be imperative, and the introduction of robots just at the right time. In fact, it's not new for machines to replace people. Robots are setting off a revolution in the automation manufacturing industry.

Many enterprises have made bold attempts in the field of factory automation. In order to upgrade the manufacturing industry, all walks of life have crossed the robot field. For example, the Foxconn factory in Kunshan has reduced 60000 workers and replaced them with robots; Zhongshan intelligent manufacturing invested 100 million in the automation transformation of general manufacturing industry.
China's manufacturing automation started late. In the process of foreign manufacturing development, industrial automation plays an important role in its production. The ratio of industrial robots per unit far exceeds the international standard of 55, but the application of domestic manufacturing automation is far behind this standard. China has a long way to go in industrial automation.
In the past, relatively low production costs and low resource prices were the strong comparative advantages of China's manufacturing industry in the global manufacturing competition. At present, with the increase of income level and the rising of labor cost, this advantage is gradually losing. Therefore, manufacturing automation transformation is the general trend.
In fact, at present, China has imported a large number of industrial robots, but in terms of the ratio of robots to workers, China still lags far behind its competitors. The introduction of robot automation in manufacturing industry seems to be a very attractive technical solution.
Automation transformation can not only improve the production efficiency of enterprises, reduce labor costs and labor intensity of workers, but also improve product quality and stability, shorten product production cycle. Therefore, the Chinese government is very active in changing the status quo. It is reported that the government will allocate billions of yuan to the manufacturing industry for technology upgrading, including advanced machinery and robots. In addition, the government plans to build dozens of innovation centers across the country to demonstrate advanced manufacturing technology.
However, automation transformation is not a matter of one day, what is in front of us are mountains that need to be conquered.
The first is the cognitive misunderstanding, a misunderstanding that many people easily fall into is: the introduction of robots is to upgrade automation! In fact, the application of robot is the most representative aspect of automation upgrading, but it does not mean that it can solve all problems. Pneumatic hydraulic control and non-standard equipment automation is also one of the most important means to realize automation. Especially for some special applications, robots can not solve, non-standard automation equipment is the answer. Automation upgrading, must not just stare at the robot, a variety of channels is the best.
Secondly, as an intelligent device, robots can not be used simply by installation and debugging. If we ignore the development (or secondary development) and application of robots, many robots will not be used or used properly. Take robots and sports players as an analogy. A group of good athletes (robots) and a good coach (system integrator) are the key to win the whole team (enterprise).
